BEHIND THE BEDTIME

Made for your nights.
Backed by research.

Explore published studies on lavender, eye masks and ingredients found in our gummies. Each study tests its own intervention, dose and group of people.

Published studies +

Five studies covering lavender, eye masks, passionflower, tart cherry and lemon balm. Each result links to its source.

Measured sleep +

Tart cherry was tested using sleep-lab recordings. Other studies assessed reported sleep quality, awakenings or symptoms.

Clear comparisons +

Results are labelled against a control, placebo or the participants’ starting score. Methods differ between studies.

Ingredient research +

The studies tested specific ingredients or interventions, not Moon Street’s finished gummies or kit.

LET’S LOOK AT THE NUMBERS

Less counting sheep.
More sleeping.

Lavender and an eye mask: two parts of the evening ritual with sleep research behind them. Here’s what the studies found.

The best part of your night? Not thinking about it.

Lavender. Better-rated sleep.

01
4.9pts

improvement in sleep-quality score with lavender

Chien et al. (2012). 60 women completed a 12-week trial. Bars show reductions in CPSQI score: a larger reduction means better-rated sleep. Tested lavender inhalation, not pillow spray.

Eye mask. A bigger improvement.

02
70%

reduction in sleep-problem score with an eye mask

Babaii et al. (2015). 60 hospital patients, three nights. Median PSQI fell from 10 to 3 with an eye mask; usual care stayed at 10. Bars show percentage reductions from baseline.

INSIDE THE GUMMIES

The ingredients
behind better nights.

Passionflower, tart cherry and lemon balm are all part of the Moon Street formula- and each has been studied for its relationship with sleep.

Passionflower. Fewer wake-ups.

67%

fewer night-time awakenings after 30 days of passionflower extract.

Harit et al. (2024). 65 adults; 600 mg/day SIVI extract. Average awakenings fell from 1.69 to 0.56: a 67% reduction from baseline (placebo: 19%). Different dose from our gummies.

Tart cherry. More time asleep.

+84min

more sleep versus placebo after two weeks of tart cherry juice.

Losso et al. (2018). Sleep-lab pilot with eight completers; 240 ml juice twice daily. Each highlighted moon represents one extra minute. Juice dose is not equivalent to the gummies’ concentrate.

THE EVERYDAY SLEEP FACTORS

What’s keeping
you awake?

From your afternoon coffee to your last scroll, the little things can shape your night.

Caffeine+

That afternoon coffee can follow you into bed. In a small controlled study, 400 mg of caffeine still disrupted sleep when taken six hours before bedtime. The timing of your last cup can matter long after the buzz has faded. Drake et al., 2013. — Drake et al., 2013.

Your phone+

Scrolling can keep your mind engaged when you’re trying to switch off. In a four-week trial, people who avoided their phones for 30 minutes before bed fell asleep around 12 minutes sooner than at the start. He et al., 2020. — He et al., 2020.

Bedding & comfort+

An uncomfortable bed can make settling down harder. In a small study of adults with disturbed sleep and discomfort, sleep-quality ratings improved by around 61% after 28 days on a prescribed bedding system. Jacobson et al., 2002. — Jacobson et al., 2002.

Your body clock+

Light helps set your body’s timing for sleep and waking. In a small camping study, a week of natural daylight and dark evenings shifted participants’ body clocks around two hours earlier. Brighter days and darker evenings help give your body a clearer sense of night. Wright et al., 2013. — Wright et al., 2013.
